The “Welcome to Powell River” signs GONE!  It was in late September when I saw that all of the signage south of town that greeted and bade farewell to travelers on Highway 101 had been removed.  Had the town of Powell River lost that lovin’ feelin’?  It sure looked that way.

There are two monuments on either side of the highway and each had two separate signs facing in opposite directions of the road.  Facing south were two welcome signs that greeted people entering Powell River and facing north were two thank you for visiting signs and all of them had vanished.  All that remained were the empty frames in which they’d been mounted.  Yet another thing taken away by the government!

Now, why would the government allow those iconic road signs to disappear?  Isn’t that signage important to the town?  In fact, isn’t it there pursuant to law?  Are they not mandatory road signs that have to be in place to identify the town?  Apparently the government doesn’t have to do anything correctly around here if they don’t want to.

Perhaps they’d been taken down for maintenance, but if so that’s no excuse for removing them altogether.  I mean, why take all of them down at the same time?  Why not service the signs on one side of the road first and replace them and then do the signs on the other side of the road next?  Or better yet, why not have a set of four replacement signs that can be mounted in place of the old ones should servicing need to take place?  Those bozos have plenty of money to finance questionable landslide and fluvial studies, yet they don’t have the resources to keep the Welcome to Powell River signs in place???  Talk about a dimwitted inversion of priorities!

This wholesale disappearance of very important signage is a bald-faced display of government incompetence in this town -- those unelected idiots couldn’t even keep the Welcome to Powell River signs up!  The government had a lawful duty to ensure that those signs were always there and they weren’t even able to fulfill that one VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD obligation.  These people have got to go!  The signs had been missing for OVER A MONTH (!) when I posted this article.  I’ll let you know if they ever replace them.

Something else they’ve been taking away is ELECTRICITY.  In “Stuff” #31 I wrote about that suspicious July 21st power outage where they blacked out half the town while leaving the lights on for the other half.  Well they did it again.  On September 17th the government turned off the power in Powell River a second time!

This outage was on a Thursday during the day so they disrupted businesses again like they did last time too.  And this was another selective outage, shutting down certain businesses while leaving others alone.  As far as I could tell, this outage was on a smaller scale than the last one.  Most businesses were unaffected, although the mall was closed this time as was Scotiabank.  However, there was a real sense of spitefulness to the blackouts.  I saw that in the Crossroads Village Shopping Centre McDonald’s was deprived of power again just like they’d been in July while all the other stores in the mall still had electricity.  McDonald’s was the only store I know of that got hit twice.  Has the government got something against McDonald’s?  That was the message I got.  And it wasn’t just businesses that were powered down.  A barista at a coffee shop told me that the power at her home had been turned off that day too.

I mentioned before how these power outages came across as emergency maneuvers done for the purpose of DELIBERATELY DISRUPTING daily goings-on in the town, especially since they’re being done on weekdays during business hours.  It makes me wonder if the government is preparing us for a power crisis of some kind.  Or are they just doing it to see how people will react?  Or is it to hurt people?  Interestingly, this second BC Hydro power outage happened the exact same week that the Jade Helm 15 military exercise concluded in the U.S.

I will add, however, that other than these targeted outages, BC Hydro is doing an excellent job and I’m very pleased with their service.

Another topic I wrote about in “Stuff” #31 was how I’d seen a couple of changes take place that appeared to be reactions to things I’ve written about.  One thing I mentioned was how after I’d posted a photo of two government notices that warned of herbicide spraying that’d been lying discarded in a ditch near Stark Road for a year they were removed soon afterward.

Well, several days after I published that article a NEW SIGN was erected in the very same location.  That sign explained how YET ANOTHER herbicide, this one named Vantage XRT, had been sprayed in the exact same spot.  The photo below is the sign that went up.  So last year they announced they’d sprayed Roundup there and now they’re saying they’ve sprayed Vantage XRT there too, which is just a very small patch of land right next to someone’s residential driveway.  According to the sign, the spraying was conducted by a BC government-sponsored agency from Victoria.  Oh, how nice of Victoria to make a special trip over to PR to spray poisonous chemicals near our homes!  The VIPs -- the Vancouver Island PREDATORS -- strike again!

The way I see it, a few things can be derived from this spraying activity.  The first thing is that it proves beyond any doubt that the government IS spraying chemicals in residential areas around here.  But all you have to do is look at the chemtrail spraying being done on us from the sky to see that.

Another thing is it shows how the government creates PHONY PROBLEMS out of nothing so they can take extreme measures to “supposedly” combat them, measures that are entirely unwarranted.  There’s no reason to be spraying this one spot with all these chemicals:  it’s TOTAL OVERKILL!  The flora there is exactly the same as the flora everywhere else -- other than the fact that it’s now been drenched with toxic chemicals of course!  Otherwise it isn’t unique in any way.  As you can see from their sign, those well-off Victoria city slickers are really DEMONIZING natural plants, painting them as evil invading aliens from outer space that must be eradicated.  What a bunch of overreacting urbanite crybabies!

And this activity also shows that the government TARGETS certain people and locations like a bully targets a victim, going back to them again and again.  Another example of this is how Environment Canada keeps sending a vessel with personnel on board it to the shore in front of my home and has been doing this regularly for at least ten years.  These psychos have a penchant for engaging in all-out stalking!

As well, the signage clearly indicates that the chemicals are EXTREMELY POISONOUS.  So if that’s the case, why the fuck are they spraying them so close to a home?  Be very careful when picking blackberries in public locations around here, folks -- there’s a good chance the government’s sprayed toxic herbicides and pesticides on them!

Something else that caught my attention recently was this TOTALLY UNEXPECTED fee I saw on my Visa card statement in August.  When I checked the bill I saw they’d hit me with something called an “OVERLIMIT FEE.”  Have you heard of this?  I hadn’t.

I looked it up online and found out it’s a penalty they nail you with if you purchase something that exceeds your card’s credit limit.  Talk about OFFENSIVE!  I was under the assumption that if you exceeded your limit they simply declined the transaction.  But no, apparently they allow the transaction to go through and then PUNISH you for it.  What a bunch of snakes!  Charging me loan-shark interest rates on the purchase isn’t enough, Visa???  You’ve got to add a FINE as well???  And this overlimit fee isn’t a nominal price either -- I was dinged a whopping $25 (!!!) for what amounted to nothing more than merely using their card to buy something!  What a sleazebag operation!  I could see the charge maybe being $5 max, but $25 is ridiculous!  I actually considered contacting Visa to dispute the fee using the reasoning that if I’d known about the charge I would’ve used another card I have with a higher limit, but their phone representatives are just so damn insolent I let it go and paid the bill.  And by the way, “overlimit” isn’t an actual English language word, Visa!

I’ve discovered something very interesting about getting around in a car in Powell River:  there are people who actually fuel their vehicles -- with used cooking oil!  That’s right, cooking oil!  This I find utterly fascinating.  I have a friend who runs his pickup truck this way.  He told me he has to modify the oil before he can use it, it has to be heated or something, but once he’s done that he just pours it into his gas tank and his car is good to go.  To the engine it’s the same as the gasoline you’d buy at the gas station.  The vehicle engine requires no modification of any kind to run on cooking oil.

We were driving in his pickup truck when he told me this.  I asked him if he was using cooking oil at that time and he said yes and I noted that the engine was purring away as healthily as could be.  He told me that when all is said and done and his expenses are factored in, the fuel costs him a mere THIRTY-FIVE CENTS A LITRE!  And he finds the oil at local restaurants who he said are generally quite willing to give him their discarded cooking oil when they’re done with it.  He said there were a number of people around town who fueled their vehicles this way.  When I told him I was going to talk about it in an article he wasn’t too keen on the idea because used oil is something of a commodity in town and he didn’t want to jeopardize his ability to secure it by making anything about it public.

I have to say, this makes me VERY SUSPICIOUS about both cooking oil and the gas we buy at the pumps.  Does this mean that the “gasoline” the gas companies sell isn’t actually gasoline as we know it?  Is it in fact a synthetic substance produced in a factory like cooking oil and not something sucked out of the earth?  I’ve always suspected that this whole notion of gas being a fossil fuel derived from the remains of velociraptors was pure bunk and now I’m even more sure of it.  And it’s kind of gross to think that the kitchen cooking oil we use to cook food is automotive fuel.  One has to wonder if the exhaust fumes from a cooking oil fueled car smell like fish ’n’ chips?

But if there IS this low-cost substitute for fossil fuel, why the hell aren’t the environmental groups touting it?  The reason is because the environmentalists are led by the loyalist news media who are in turn led by the lawyer-controlled government and the only alternative to gasoline they’ll entertain is electricity and nothing else.  And look who’s in the business of selling electricity!  The government!!!  That’s why they’re pushing electric cars on us!

This Place Rocks!  Continuing my occasional feature about businesses in town I like, this month I want to mention Staples.

Staples opened for business in Powell River about ten years ago and it was perfect timing.  At that time I’d just moved back to PR and I was being attacked by a number of groups:  the government, lawyers, banks, the police and by ICBC too.  But luckily Staples was there to give me the tools I needed to defend myself:  correspondence tools like paper and ink and printers and staplers and everything else required for preparing effective letters; photocopiers and scanners for reproducing documents; and even the use of a fax machine which I sometimes needed.  Staples provided me with the arsenal I required to fight back and win!  Plus, it was Staples that helped me learn new skills, like when I decided on a whim to purchase the graphics program Corel Draw and see what it was all about.  And then when I was inspired by fiery radio talk show host Alex Jones to produce a video I went to Staples and was utterly delighted to find they had everything I needed to make it happen:  inexpensive microphones, webcams and video editing software too.  Thanks for being around, Staples!  I appreciate the help!
